Where and when was EcuaFry first produced?

Sergio Gavilanes, one of the many South American immigrants in the USA, longing for the taste of the Ecuadorian "chifle" (which is the name for a slice of green plantain or banana fried in oil), headed to the nearest supermarket to buy a bag of the delicious product available at that time, just to realize in a disappointing manner that the exquisite flavor of such a delicacy wasn't the same as he remembered from his childhood. This product had a rancid taste, so he tried other brands to discover that most of them had the same bad taste with varying intensity. For this reason, he decided to make it at home for his family, receiving positive feedback from relatives and close friends.

In this way, the brilliant idea of starting to produce it commercially and professionally emerged. And with the purchase of a small knife that only cost $2.00 (as initial capital), which would serve to peel the first plantains. And so, in July 2012, Ecuafry LLC was founded by Sergio Gavilanes in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, as an American manufacturing company of traditional Ecuadorian fried snacks with ancestral recipes. The name Ecuafry is a fusion of two words in Spanish and English; ECUA, the first syllables of Ecuador, Sergio's country of origin, and the delicious Snack, and FRY, the word "fried" in English.

One of the flagship products is "The Chifle of Minnesota (El Chifle de Minnesota)," which is a snack of slices of green plantains of Ecuadorian origin, fried in soybean oil and seasoned with sea salt.

Followed by "The Corn of Minnesota (El Maíz Tostado de Minnesota)," which is a snack of dried Ecuadorian corn, fried and seasoned with garlic, onion, and sea salt.

We can also mention "The Papita of Minnesota (La Papita de Minnesota)," which is a snack of slices of Rousette-type potatoes harvested in Wisconsin, USA, fried in an artisanal style, and seasoned with sea salt.

Ecuafry initially was marketed in local South American stores, expanding into the markets of the North American, African American, Hindu, and European communities, where it has been greatly accepted. For this reason, there is great enthusiasm and commitment to continue growing and bringing these delicious snacks to the world!
